Here come the holidays

I hope your Halloween was frightfully fun and full of treats. Our family went as Jack Skellington, Sally, and Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas which is a staple in our son’s movie favorites. I’ll let you figure out who was who haha. I also say thank you to everyone out there who has treats in their candy bowls safe for allergen friendly kids. We don’t ever expect anyone to (I buy things to swap out he can’t have so he doesn’t feel like he gets less candy) but things like lollipops, fruit snacks, gummy candies are often pretty safe and we’re always happy to see them!

So normally, I chat about the upcoming recipes for the month. However, this month I had quite a few setbacks on recipes I was working on. They just weren’t coming together in a way that I thought they were good recipes. Bread that had weird texture, things not browning how they should, or just not consistent results. Rather than rush them, and post mediocre recipes for the sake of a new weekly recipe each week, I kind of tabled them for now. I’d rather work on them longer even if that means less new content. That being said, I HAVE posted new recipes this month, just not as many as I intended to.

It’s also getting to be holiday season, and I’m sure just as you are getting busier, so am I! Hopefully you can appreciate this honesty, and I kind of say why don’t we all take on a little less this season so we don’t end up stressed. Let’s enjoy the days.

So in lieu of what’s coming this month, I offer some of the recipes from past years that I think you might really enjoy on your holiday table in the coming weeks.

  1.  Buttermilk Dinner Rolls - Super pillowy soft rolls with just a tiny bit of tang. These are always devoured in our house.

  2. Japanese Milk Bread - Similar to my buttermilk rolls, but they use the tangzhong method which creates the MOST soft and fluffy rolls ever.

  3. Homemade Crescent Rolls - I know you can buy them in a can, but if you want something a little bit more cozy and made with love, these are it!

  4. Buttermilk Biscuits - I know not everyone wants a yeast roll, which is why I have two different biscuit recipes. One is more of a soft fluffy biscuit similar to a drop style, the other is rolled out and flakier.

  5. Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls - Cinnamon rolls are always welcome, but how about a seasonal swap?

  6. Brown Butter Maple Bundt Cake - I’m actually making this one this week when we have friends over for dinner! SO delicious even this non-cake person will eat more than one slice!

  7. Chewy Pumpkin Sugar Cookies - Maybe you’re not a pie person, and you want something easier than making a yeasted roll. These cookies are simple but delicious.

  8. Spiced Pear Buckle - If you want to add a little fruit into your dessert, pear is a notoriously undervalued fall flavor. This one adds fall spices to create an unbeatable flavor.

Is there a recipe you’d love to see on thebreadbakingbabe.com or something you can’t work out on an existing recipe? Let me know! Until next month, happy baking!
